Adventures in Lisbon, Portugal
Lisbon, Portugal was my first destination of a long 1-year tour of the world. The city immediately displays its Roman-esque red rooftops, and low-rise buildings in the central core.
You definitely feel like you are in old-europe, and yet, deep down, I wondered how much of Brazil looked like old Portugal.
I also felt like Portugal is one of the less-visited Countries in Western Europe, so Portugal was a must-see.
The city itself is very safe, and clean, and I even got on a bus, and let it go all over the greater Lisbon area, just to see how the rest of Lisbon looked. Outside of the central core, it’s more modern, so I didn’t take any photos there.
While I learned a bit of Brazilian portuguese a few months before arriving in Lisbon, Portugal… I could not understand the Portugal Portuguese.
To me, Portuguese from Portugal has a more Polish/Slavic sound to it, while Brazilian Portuguese is bouncy and nasal-like.
